Icon Orthodontics is always striving for more efficient ways to provide service to our patients. Clinical efficiencies allow for improved care for our patients by shortening chair time and improving treatment outcomes. They also allow for our time to be spent focusing on our patients to ensure that the highest standard of care is provided at all times.

INDIRECT BONDING
Icon Orthodontics utilizes an innovative method to attach the orthodontic brackets to your teeth called the Sondhi Indirect Bonding™ Method. Dr. Low positions the brackets onto a model of your teeth. The brackets are then set into a retainer-like appliance that holds them in the correct position for your teeth.

Rather than have our staff glue each bracket on one by one (one must be put on each tooth and we bond ALL teeth, even your furthest molars), we can insert them all at once for each of the upper and lower jaws. This process makes the bonding appointment much more enjoyable for our patients and eliminates a second appointment to reach the furthermost molars.

Indirect bonding also allows for a much more accurate placement of the brackets onto each tooth, which results in better smiles for our patients.

SMART CLIP™ BRACKETS
Icon Orthodontics employs the Smart Clip™ bracket system as designed by 3M Unitek. Normally, each bracket on your teeth is wrapped in an elastic or ligature to hold the wire in place over your teeth. Each archwire change appointment requires a change in elastics to change the wire. Elastics may also change colour as they age and look less attractive.

The Smart Clip™ system uses a bracket that clips the wire in place WITHOUT the use of an elastic. This reduces the friction between the bracket and wire which allows for more efficient tooth movement, increased patient comfort, easier archwire changes and better bracket hygiene. If a patient requests the use of elastics for aesthetic reasons (ie. they want to have colours on their braces) the Smart Clip™ system accommodates the use of elastics as well.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODEL SYSTEM
All models of teeth at Icon Orthodontics are rendered into a digital three-dimensional form and are then used for initial treatment planning, progress records and final records. Having our model system digitized minimizes our workload to store and retrieve models and maximizes our ability to spend our time providing excellent patient care.
